Welcome to the first post in the April Back To Basics Blog Series here at Createyou86.  It may seem very obvious what this series will be about, but i'll say it anyway.  This series is about getting back to being one with your planner.  It is time to get back to basics, and back to the start.  Are you still using the same planner?  Are you still using the same inserts?  How long has it been since you really REALLY reviewed your planner, and what works for you?  What planner accessories are you using?  How have these changed since you started planning?  If you keep reading you will find out why i prefer paper planning over electronics.

When it comes to planners you will always have your diehard electronic planners as well as your die hard paper planners.  Neither of these choices are right or wrong, it just depends on how you utilize your planning to be the most efficient.  There are a couple of reasons that i prefer paper over electronic planning. These reasons include:

1. Phones, Computers, and Tablets Break
I can't even count on two hands the amount of times i have had to reset phones, or get rid of phones or tablets because they are acting weird or break.  Even computers become obsolete, and just stop working.  After 4 years of using a MacBook Pro it just stopped working, and i lost EVERYTHING. Paper is always going to be more reliable as long as you remember to write things down, and keep it in a safe clean place.

2. Planning at Work
You boss most likely won't tell you to put your planner away.  However, most bosses will tell you to put your phone away even if you are just using it quickly.  As a teacher it is easy for me to make notes, and if need be, bring a planner to work with me, and flip through it without my boss being concerned about using a phone (at our school we are always on camera, and i don't mind it).

PSA...I am so sorry that it has taken this long to put out this blog series.  I have been very sick for over a month, and i haven't been healthy enough to post.  I also haven't used my planner in a week (not even decorated!) #plannerfail

There you have it my top reasons for using paper planners over electronic planners.

Let me know in the comments below DO YOU PREFER PAPER OR ELECTRONIC?

I'm definitely a paper planner girl. I have my calendar on my phone but still on paper because I need to see it laid out on paper to work through planning. I also prefer a written to do list. I have never ever been able to get organized when my to do list was digital.

Kathy,
Thanks for stopping by. I couldn't agree more. I definitely like seeing everything written out, and working through it. Things tend to fall through the cracks with me using electronics.

Paper has always been better for me for reminders and taking notes. Electronics may be better for some people, but in my case I've always been a paper person!

I prefer paper for most things, but I tend to use digital systems as a last resort when I can't find a paper system that works well enough for me.

Ivanna,
Thanks for stopping by. It seems like you have found a system that works for you. I still have certain things on my computer, but nothing planning related.

I much prefer planning on paper, though, if you have Google calendar and apps, it is available on any device. I write it down, then put it in Google :)

Robbi,
Thanks for stopping by. I have android, and a chromebook so Google is very convenient in those places, and for blog/school work.
