#2 Planner Awareness Month: Why I Plan

Welcome to the second post in the Createyou86 Planner Awareness Month Blog Series.  This post might seem obvious if you have been following my blog for a while, but in a two, and a half year span of owning this blog, and planning, my ideas about why i plan have changed significantly.
When i first came across this community on Instagram, i was in awe of all of the beautiful planner layouts, and i thought that i could get my life together if only i had a planner that looked as beautiful as the ones i was seeing.  This changed very quickly.  I went through a period of time where i was trying different planners, and seeing which ones i liked, which setup worked best for me, and i even created my own planner.  So why do i still plan in 2017?
  1. It makes me more transparent to myself.  Using a planner makes me more responsible for the daily decisions that i make.  Using a planner makes me look back at my decisions, and decided day to day, week to week, month to month which decisions i made to benefit, or to hinder myself.  There is no hiding from what is written or not written in my planner.
  2. My planner is a creative outlet.  Every week i get to put my personal touch on something creative.  I get to make my planner look exactly how i want it to look.  I can make it beautiful, or i can make it minimalist even though i am not super creative.
  3. My planner helps me keep good habits.  Between using stickers to track the steps that i take each week using my fitbit, using a sticker to track my hydration (you don't even need a sticker for this you can just draw boxes!), and stickers that i use to track how often i fill my car with gas i am able to keep good habits in my life by tracking them.  The planner that i am currently using has a goals section at the beginning of each month that i can  monthly goals, and i have them staring me in the face each day that i open my planner.
I really do believe that planners are a great investment in yourself, and in your future.  You can learn so many things about yourself, and what you need to keep yourself organized.

I like to allow God to plan my life so the plans I have might change from time to time. Also, I have several chronic illnesses and have recently had three surgeries in the span of six months so I don't plan a great deal. But I do keep myself organized with a notebook of daily To Do Lists. I cross off what I can daily and hold the others over to the next day til I can get them done.

Kerrymay,
Thanks for stopping by. It isn't really. it is something I made up a couple of years ago for a blog series. I am glad you love your planners. I love mine too!

I love planning, and even though sometimes it seems a little overwhelming I'm always glad I did it. It's so hard to find a planner that fits your style! I'm going to have to create my own so I can change it to fit my lifestyle. Having a planner always helps me accomplish more because I know exactly what I'm supposed to be doing next. Love it!
