Welcome to the second post in the June Planner Choices Blog Series here at Createyou86.  The topic of this post is something that i think about all of the time.  What is the REAL value of planning?  From someone who started out never planning in her childhood to being an avid planner in her late 20's.

The value that i get from planning is immeasurable.  I am able to keep my life together by planning, and i am able to keep ahead of myself.   Although, i do not have a lot to plan on a weekly basis, i do find that it eases my mind to write everything down, and organize.  Planning really benefits everyone weather they know it or not.  Maybe you are planning a party.  There are many aspects that need to be planned: The guest list, food, venue, time, entertainment, etc.  When everything is planned out it makes it easy for everyone to know where they need to be, and when.  It also helps to plan the before, and if people are going to bring something with them to help supply the party.  Every person wins by knowing everything that they need to know, and you knowing what you need to do, and where you need to be.

I feel like the biggest value from planning is originality.  Your planner is a place that no one else needs to see, but you, and you can express yourself without judgement.  You can make it beautiful, scrappy, neat, or messy, and know that it is all you, and your ideas.

Let me know in the comments below: WHAT IS THE VALUE OF PLANNING TO YOU?

I love planning. I don't do any planning for my everyday life. I use a command center in my kitchen to list special dates for the whole family to see and interact with, but I plan for my blog and it works great.

Kate,
Thanks for stopping by. That sounds like a great plan! I will probably do something similar when I start my family.

I have to plan out everything. Once I get everything out of my head and written out on paper, I can relax and not worry that I'm forgetting something.

Wendy,
Thanks for stopping by. Sometimes I do giant brain dumps, and move on from there.

When I let my planning in my planner slide, I'm okay for about one day and then everything goes nuts. Using a planner eases anxiety and keeps me focused. Great post!

Julie,
Thanks for stopping by. I tend to get some anxiety as well after a few days of no planning.

Whether it is for work, play or keeping the household in order, I love to plan. I have a daily to-do list on a note pad. I keep a monthly list for planning the budget in Excel and I keep various for my work and household needs in Word files. Unless I am on a very tight and early deadline, I start my day by going through my various planning files and making sure I am where I need to be and getting done what needs to get done.

Regina,
Thanks for stopping by. It seems like you have a great system. Have you considered everything in one planner?

Oh my gosh there are so so many benefits I get from planning, but I think the one I value the most is that it helps me save time. When I plan things out I always start with my priorities, once those are taken care of I am freed up for the thinks I want to do. I am such a planner I even created my own planner that I offer for free.
