Welcome to the third post in the Createyou86 Planner Awareness Month Blog Series.  As a planner i feel like we are always looking for ways to foolproof our planner, and to make our planners work the best for us.  This post will be a short, and sweet list of a few ways that i have found to keep my productivity up, and to keep my planners working, and functional for me.

  1. Size: Make sure that your planner is the right size for the amount of information that you want to store in it.  Having the wrong size planner is a serious deterant from wanting to use your planner on a daily basis.
  2. Maintenance:  Make sure that you reevaluate your planner at least once a month.  This will help you make sure that the methods you are using are actually working, and effective.
  3. Consistency:  Are you using your planner?  Actually writing in it?  Make sure that you are!  Otherwise, planners just become unused paper.
  4. Find A Planner Buddy:  There are tons of planner groups on Facebook, and people who you can meet on Instagram that make great planner friends, and accountability partners.  You could have monthly Facetime, or Google Hangout meetings to keep each other on track with your planning.
There you have it.  These are my picks for how to foolproof your planner, and i can't stress enough how well these things work for me!

#2 Planner Awareness Month: Why I Plan

Welcome to the second post in the Createyou86 Planner Awareness Month Blog Series.  This post might seem obvious if you have been following my blog for a while, but in a two, and a half year span of owning this blog, and planning, my ideas about why i plan have changed significantly.
When i first came across this community on Instagram, i was in awe of all of the beautiful planner layouts, and i thought that i could get my life together if only i had a planner that looked as beautiful as the ones i was seeing.  This changed very quickly.  I went through a period of time where i was trying different planners, and seeing which ones i liked, which setup worked best for me, and i even created my own planner.  So why do i still plan in 2017?
  1. It makes me more transparent to myself.  Using a planner makes me more responsible for the daily decisions that i make.  Using a planner makes me look back at my decisions, and decided day to day, week to week, month to month which decisions i made to benefit, or to hinder myself.  There is no hiding from what is written or not written in my planner.
  2. My planner is a creative outlet.  Every week i get to put my personal touch on something creative.  I get to make my planner look exactly how i want it to look.  I can make it beautiful, or i can make it minimalist even though i am not super creative.
  3. My planner helps me keep good habits.  Between using stickers to track the steps that i take each week using my fitbit, using a sticker to track my hydration (you don't even need a sticker for this you can just draw boxes!), and stickers that i use to track how often i fill my car with gas i am able to keep good habits in my life by tracking them.  The planner that i am currently using has a goals section at the beginning of each month that i can  monthly goals, and i have them staring me in the face each day that i open my planner.
I really do believe that planners are a great investment in yourself, and in your future.  You can learn so many things about yourself, and what you need to keep yourself organized.
