Sunday's are book club Sunday's on Createyou86.  Welcome to Part two of our second book in the Createyou86 Book Club The Truth About Love and Lightning.

The Gift: Part 2  pgs 77-118 Synopsis:
-----------------------------------------------------------
The Gift goes into the 1930's Vaudeville background of Henry "Hank" Little foot, a descendant of the Otoe-Missouria Tribes. This man was also Sam Winston's grandfather.  Hank possessed the "gift" of rain making.  However, this gift also caused him to age unnaturally.  By his mid thirties he look as old as a hundred year old man with white hair, gaunt face, and wrinkles.  The rain making ceremonies were taking a massively physical toll on his body.  His girlfriend in the vaudeville show became pregnant, and they eventually escaped from the Owner of the show who refused to let them leave because the show was bringing in so much money.  His family owned a farm where him, and his lady ran away to in order to start a life together.  The farm was in total disaray. He Hank had made enough money for a nest egg, and to hire some workers to help rebuild the home.  They needed something from the farm to make money for the family.  The only thing there was, was a walnut orchard in the backyard which was barren.  Hank decides to do the rain dance one last time so his family would prosper, and he ended up being struck by lightning. Nadya had his water birthmark removed. Hank married Nadya, and the baby was born, without any birthmarks, and she was named Lily.

"You're blessed to be just as you are.  Because sometimes even the greatest gift can become a curse if you're not careful."
